Thanks to books provided by Books for Eastern Congo, the local organization Promoting Youth through Education (PYE) in Goma created its own mini-library! PYE aims to increase access to education and improve conditions of youth and women in DRC. PYE organizes activities that focus on youth empowerment, community education and mobilization around civic education, coaching and mentoring for girls and boys, and vocational training. They received approximately 270 books, including textbooks, teaching and learning materials, novels (in French and English) and books about civic education. The mini-library is free for PYE students, vocational center students and youth volunteers. For the public, there is a $1 USD monthly fee to use the mini-library. The mini-library is open Monday-Saturday from 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-15:00.
